Do you like you?

I saw this video yesterday by Colbie Caillat & have been playing it on repeat...

I love the message...

Its about loving yourself - not needing the use of all the 'stuff' to make ourselves feel beautiful.

While its nice, we don't need it.

I remember being in high school & being young & feeling like I would rather die then not lather on some blue eye liner & lip liner around these smackers.  It was the 80's after all.

When you start dating someone, you want to always seem beautiful, so that's making sure your face looks fresh, your hair is the best it can be.

Fast forward time... & here I am at a camp full of kids & I didn't even think twice about posting pictures of my face without make up....

Photo: Loved another year at Merge Camp

Most of my race pictures at the finish line, I have no make up on.  Just my skin & sheer sweat....

& you know what?  These pictures are some of my favorite.

yes, I have wrinkles & I have age spots, but I have smiles & joy....

& isn't that part of what beautiful is?

Take a minute & watch this video...

remember that YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL... AS YOU ARE

We can all use that reminder, can't we?

  1. Yes that's definitely what beautiful is!! I think for me, I had to mature into liking myself. When I was a teenager I was insecure but now I love me :) Thanks for sharing I hadn't seen the video before

    1. Maturing is a good word for it... I get so sad for young ladies that feel the need to be so 'pretty' all the time when they're beautiful already.

  4. What a beautiful post! Thank you for sharing this video it is wonderful! It's nice to get dressed up and feel pretty but it is nice to feel pretty just being low key and ourselves! Happiness makes one prettier far more than makeup! :)

  5. She was on ( I think the view) yesterday talking about this same topic!

Ps, every picture you've posted of yourself has been beautiful!

  6. I love this! I used to freak out over the thought of a boy seeing me without makeup...even if it was just eyeliner. I love that i'm confident enough in myself now to just slather on some chapstick.

  7. i rarely wear makeup and while sometimes it's fun to get all dolled up, i don't ever want to be so consumed with outward appearance that i won't leave the house w/out makeup on!

  8. Love this! You ARE beautiful and it's so funny how priorities change with time. Some of my favorite pics of myself include me with my new Betty right after I had her and many of my finish line photos. I am powerful and strong in those. This post is amazing. :)

  9. Great post!! Back in high school and college I wouldn't go anywhere without make-up! In the last couple years though I have really become comfortable with myself without makeup. While I do like to dress up still, I am very happy going out in public without that mask! :0)

    1. It does feel like a mask when you don't put makeup on for awhile, doesn't it? ;)

  10. In my first running group, there were several women older than me. I'd say, mid 50's or so. A lot of them walked instead of all out running. Anyway, when I'd see them on Saturday mornings, there'd be no makeup, hair under hats. Whenever we had a pre-race dinner or something where people were dressed up and made-up, I always thought to myself how caked and unnatural makeup looks and how much better they looked naturally. Doesn't stop me from wearing it to look nice, though. I rarely put it on on the weekends anymore. It's glasses and pony tail all the way!
