How the month went: July 2015

July

Miles Ran:  21.00 miles
Workouts:  23 days

July... the month I did this

pulled out my running shoes again.

I missed it.

I forgot how much I missed it.

I felt like I did pretty good for July.
I mean, you can see I was pretty consistent on the workouts.
& I'm still loving the 21 Day Fix workouts for alternating days I'm putting on those running shoes. They are great ways to get in some body toning in just 30 minutes.

though I still have stayed away from the Lower body Fix.
I still think that's from Da Devil!!!!

& yeah, the running.
I knew I hadn't ran in awhile.  & being a slow poke anyways, I decided to upload the C25K program on my phone & start over again.

I have no problem with starting over in life in things.

So its slow... & not even up to 2 miles yet.
But that's ok... because it's enjoyable.
& that's what it should be - right?

My eating/nutrition has still been on track with my 21 Day Fix idea.
I keep my little food tracker with me & keep everything in check
... though I did start incorporating a time - usually on Sunday - where I can have a treat.

& by treat, I'm not talking about gorging for a day.
I mean, I have like 10 chocolate chips - or 5 extra pretzels.
I'm OK with that.
I'm just trying to learn to listen to my body... & I'm not really craving much of anything or really DYING for something huge & a massive pig out.

That's good - right?

My biggest love this month has been the Kashi wheat waffles.

Oh yeah.. I can eat this for every dinner.

Though I will say, I tried the Eggo Wheat waffles.
I don't know what they put in those things but both me & the hubs had stomach cramps for a whole day after eating those things.
Never again Eggo - never again.

So I'll chalk July as a really good month
a 9 out of 10

I still lost some more weight
I am still pretty much injury free
(though aging does always have aches & pains)
I can see muscle toning in my arms & legs

yeah.. a good month

What was the best thing that happened in July for you?

How the Month Went: June 2015

June

I can't believe we are half way through the year.... I just am gearing up to go in my denial that Christmas is going to be here before we know it again.

June isn't really earth shattering.

I had the previous month the challenge of doing 10,000 steps every day.  This month, umm.... not so much... BUT I did stay consistent it seems in working out.

& I started the 21 Day Fix - which I know y'all are probably like SHUT UP ABOUT IT... but its seemed to have gotten me back on track.

So the PROS of the month:

*  Lost 8 lbs ... thank you Jesus
*  Had my mammogram & it all came back OK... thank you Jesus
*  Had 2 5k's in my month - made me remembered how I loved running
*  My shin splints have gotten better from the May 10,000 step challenge
*  Didn't have ONE bit of candy or chips for the WHOLE MONTH - wh wh WHAT?

CONS of the month:

* My quad is acting weird.  It's burning so bad & feels like a strange pull. I blame these stupid 21 day fix videos that about tore my legs up.  & now the burning won't go away.
* My step count plummeted seriously
* I miss candy & chips

June... I hardly knew you....

What was the your Pro & Con of the month?

How the Month Went... May 2015 edition

May 2015

Miles Walked 21.57 miles

Finished Les Mills 9 week Program

MADE MONTH STRAIGHT - over 10,000 steps!!!

May... gone...

Before I get started... can I mention all that yellow - On EVERY STINKIN' DAY!?!?!

I did a challenge to get in 10,000 steps a day.  I try every day to get my step count up but some days, I just don't make it... I made a POINT to get it ... EVERY DAY...

& I DID IT!!!!

I still can't believe it.

I'm glad to see I can do it.

Now, it did take a toll on my shins - a lot of barefoot walking in random places will probably do that.  I could feel the work in my quads.  But it had to be good for me over all.

If anything, it was good for my pride.  I'll give that much.

May finished me up with Les Mills... left me depressed.

Had me walking some more.  I haven't ran in awhile.  My back & knee has been doing decent - I've been afraid to jinx it so just sticking with walking. I haven't minded.  I may keep it up... may start the C25K again ....

Look at the name of the song...
yeah baby... PRESS ON!!!

but June holds the start of the 21 Day Fix... my food changes started today. I don't want to call it a diet.  Food changes sounds easier to deal with... & the workouts start tonight. I'm kinda afraid truth be told. I hear its tough.

But I'm tougher :)

Did you accomplish anything great in May?

What was your fitness highlight of the month?

How the month went: April 2015

April

24 days worked out
17 days over 10,000 steps
9.45 miles done

I felt like I kicked April in the butt with my workouts!

Nothing marked out as "injured" or "Sick"... that's been on the last few months calendar so this one makes me happy.

My step count became a priority too.  & I'm so proud that I made it for a 8 day stretch over 10,000.  That inspires me because I'm taking the challenge of getting in 10,000 EVERY DAY for May ... so far so good on that too....

& see those little red stars?  Those are morning where I did a 5am work out as well.  They were usually a 5, 7 or 10 minute work out - depending when I got out of bed.

I have enjoyed doing those morning "Bootycall" workouts... BUT...

I'm not sure I'm going to continue them.

Why?  Because my weight has gone UP this month.. .like 4 lbs UP...

WHAT THE FREAKING BOLOGNA IS THAT?!?!?!?

I know, I know... I'm going to hear the thing about muscle is more & measuring & blah blah blah....

but nope.

I'm not buying it.

My weight is the highest EVER... & my clothes don't feel like 'muscle' is a factor.

I was so proud of my work outs for the month... & leaving April feeling depressed & defeated.

DANG IT!

Just dang it....

But I'm not giving up.

Thought I'm still in the air about the 5am workouts, I will continue the evening workouts & I will get my steps in....

I am focusing on my water intake
I know I need to focus more closely on my nutrition.
Something has to give with those things plus my exercising.

It just has to give....

How the Month Went: March

March 2015

Can anyone else believe we are into the 4th month of the year?

As someone who does bookkeeping - that means the 2nd quarter...

That's amazing to me.  Maybe because we got our Christmas tree down in February may effect why it feels like the year is going by fast. But it is another month down.

How did the month go?

20.37 Miles Done

17 days of Exercise

7 days over Step Goal.... 1 DOUBLE DAY over 20,000

So, it wasn't the best month... that's OK

I was down & out with an awful sinus infection, that I honestly think I had pneumonia... The cough was awful.  The breathing was hard. The weakness was miserable.  I was sick.

Needless to say, I have a BIG ole gap right there in the middle of the month.

But as I talked about before - I did make it to my 10k race. & did a 5k as well in there.  Granted, times sucked... ROYALLY... but I did it.

That's me with my arms in the air...
I always love seeing there is at least ONE person behind me in a race finish line pic

& then after the races were done, I started my venture into the Les Mill Combat - which I am ADORING!!!

In just a week a few days, I can feel the difference in my legs with my kicks... I can feel it in my back... I can feel my abs being sore every day, which is a great feeling because I wasn't even sure my abs were still there under all that flab.

So it's another month down...

I hope that I don't have any more big gaps in any of my upcoming months.

My goals for April

* Continue on with my Les Mills
* My Virtual 10k .. just enjoy it - even if its a walk of 6.2 miles
* Water. I'm slacking BIG TIME on downing plain ole water.
* Get working on that step goal again.  7 days is just sad. There's no reason why every day isn't over 10,000 steps.  My desk is going to literally kill me.

When I see this, I know its possible... it's just MAKING it happen more often!

How was your March?

How the month went... February 2015

Feb 2015

February 2015

*26.31 Miles Finished (up 5.21 from last month!!!)
*14 days of working out total for month
(Same as January... which with a awful February - I'm impressed with)
*7 days hitting Step Goal

February... kinda sucked...

When you do a lot of trips to the hospital, working out isn't top priority...

When you loose a family member, working out isn't top priority...

When my dad is getting ANOTHER 8 inches of his colon taken out, working out isn't top priority...

But my 10k training has kept on the best it can & I'm proud of myself for at least staying consistent when I can...

It all just reminds me of my year goal... just move...

My 5k is coming up this weekend & the goals of the races in March (which we are in... really?  Where is Spring weather Ms. March?) just reminds me that I just want to move.  I'm probably going slower then ever... but I'm going... all I care about.

I have gotten back to tracking my food the past few days too.  Not on My Fitness Pal - mainly because that just drives me crazy actually.  I hate that count that shows you how many days consistently you've logged in... & I get so stupid mad at a day I'll miss because hello, death in the family, & then those day counts are back to one.  Forget it - that just ticks me off... so I've created another health journal.  See that spreadsheet above?  Please... my health journal is even better :)  #IamaNerd #HUGEnerd

I will say, my 10K training helped me FINALLY win a FitBit challenge.  I am usually in last place - I'm getting used to being last apparently in all things - but when I found out I WON one, I felt like I just won the Gold in the Olympics...

I kept the whole Yoga thing up whenever I could... still hate it... GOD, I HATE IT!

Harvey hates it too.... #boring

I even went back to some strength training days with Jillian... who makes my quads cry.  No one should have to do that many squats in a 30 minute time span.

And yep, I'm still getting miles ranked up.... I'm not minding the slow pace though. My knee & back are cooperating with it.  That's what its about for me. I think I want a shirt when I run that says something like "I'm just moving at my own pace" ...

Down side... my Polar Heart race monitor has been bombing on me mid-exercise lately.  UGHHHH!!!!  So now I'm on the hunt & trying to decide if I want another polar HR watch or if I want to invest in a tracking devise that has the heart rate monitor built in that....

I wish I could tell you how much I hate decisions...

So onto March...

How was your February?

How the month went... January 2015

So I gotta come up with some creative cute little header for this... but its Monday, the first Monday of the month, so its not happening today...

But I did want to document how my month went.  Something I'd like to do every month.  A good way to look back & see how I'm progressing, or faltering... hopefully not...

January 2015

January 2015

21.10 Miles finished
14 days of working out total for month
My first 5k of the year

I'll take it!!!

You can tell I started off the year slow...

That side pain got the best of me at the start... but you can also see where I decided to kick it in gear.

I did finish the month slow - only because on Friday, I was dead to the world. I didn't feel the best when I got home & I just wanted to sleep.

& then I was really kinda shocked for Saturday's step count (the 31st) - I literally did not sit down for 4 hours at a birthday party I photographed & then ran around some stores before I headed home... I guess I just hovered in corners at the party more then walked around. Dang it.

But the past 3 months has been virtually nothing, so I'm thrilled that I have some activity to report at all...

Other highlights

I did start cooking a little bit more...
cooking at home = healthier food

My husband is obsessed with this stir-fry now

I got to get out at lunch time & get some walks in

I even did stupid yoga...
have I ever mentioned how much I hate yoga?

I'm hoping February is even better!
