The Hunchback doesn't live in Notre Dame

I love that we have security cameras around our house.

Its always fun to look in during the day & check where our dogs are at.  Nice to make sure our house isn't burning down.  Good to see which dog peed on the carpet in the middle of the night so the others don't get the blame.

You can look back at footage for awhile & its been fun to look back when Harvey got the hubs cell phone & he started chasing him around the back yard with intentions to strangle him & Harvey thought it was a fun game.. I watched that one a few times.

& I like looking back to see my hubby walk around the house in the morning & hear him talk to the dogs before I get up.

Those are some of the cutest conversations.

But I ran across some footage of me getting ready for work one morning.

& I had to stop & replay it because I thought, "Who is that Hunchback walking through our living room?"

No Hunchback... just me...

Even had red hair... basically me in the morning...

I see women all the time when they are older with that slump in their shoulders & I always have a fear that will be me when I'm old & grey. I'm awful at taking calcium anyways & my bones are already proven to break at the snap of a finger... literally...

If you read about posture, its even scarier to see how it affects your internal organ - how it all gets crunched up & makes things not work to their best ability.

I'm on a mission now... get that back up straight...

Sitting at the computer pretty much 90% of my day doesn't help, but I'm trying to find some good exercises at the office...

& I think just being aware - pulling those shoulders back - makes a difference...

Makes you thinner too...

I'm ALL for that!!!

Do you work on your posture?

Do you notice yourself slumping?

What's your best fix for it?

  1. Ha! You're right that good posture is so important. I got into the habit of checking and straightening my posture when I started running, since the Chi Running approach I used is all about good posture. Yoga also helps me remember my posture. It's so easy to forget and slump!

  4. OMG that first image is me exactly! I've always known I have poor posture. I try to correct it only when I think about it!

  7. I'm not sure I want to see what goes on in my house when I'm not there. And I already know which dog to blame. LOL. I think I have pretty good posture but then see a picture that proves otherwise. It's always good to practice.

    1. haha... we actually watched one of our dogs tearing up his dog bed... & all we could do was watch. That was funny... but sad all in one.

  8. I definitely sat up straighter while reading this post - thanks for the reminder! I had bought a stability ball to use as a desk-chair at work but it won't work right. I'm short so I had to get a smaller size for my stumpy legs and when I sit on it at my desk, I actually have to reach up to get to the keyboard. They're supposed to be great for posture though! If we could leave our dogs out during the day, I'd invest in one of those cameras. Considering both would destroy the house by either eating everything or peeing on everything (or both), we have to crate them while we're gone. Pugs are mini-destroyers.

    1. I have grandpugs ... love those little squished faced critters :) .... I want a stability ball too for good posture, but you're right, those are a little short.

  10. I used to have perfect posture before starting my desk job. :( Now, I just do my best to be conscious of how I'm holding myself and I take stretch breaks.

  11. I remember way back in middle school or elementary, we were doing one of those games where you carry the egg on the spoon. Mine never wavered, and a classmate kept yelling that it was because I had good posture. The knowledge of a kid, right? Nowadays I know my posture is awful. Especially sitting at this computer!

  12. I get it about sitting at a desk all day! I'm considering getting a ball chair although I totally see myself flying off of that thing ;)

  13. Both of my grandmothers had osteoporosis so I'm worried about that too. I need to get better at taking in calcium. I sit at a desk all day too but I'm making an effort to try to get up and walk 5 minutes out of every hour.
