this thing called life....

If you saw my Instagram this weekend, you saw no work out pictures.

Actually, I didn't have any since Tuesday.... yikes!

No... even worse - Monday!

That's bad... really bad.

Not like me at all.

But there's this thing called life.

& it hits you all at once sometimes.

Between Tuesday having a hair appointment & then a church meeting & I didn't get home until after 9pm

& then Wednesday, I went up to the hospital to see my niece & didn't get home until 9pm

... hold up - I did work out on Thursday...YES!!  Not a total loser!

But back on Friday, another busy day with my mom needing back surgery - that ended up not happening & us leaving the surgical center with my mom's back exactly the same... & going to our friend's for dinner on Friday

& then Saturday was photo sessions & puppy home finding (if you did see my Instagram, you did see the cute little puppy that we know someone had to leave this little guy at our house!!!) & washing machine problems...

& yeah... life

oh yeah, for posterity sake, there was another photo session in there on Sunday.

So yeah, no actual workout... but life kept me moving... if that counts for anything.

The only bad thing that I'll confess to - my nutrition wasn't the best this week either.

My mom had birthday cake happening for her big day.
I had a cookie or two at our home church.
I dappled into my hubby's Halloween stash of mini candy bars.

we don't even get trick or treaters on our country road!

I felt awful about it all last night & actually am excited to get back on track this week.

Sadly, this week is pretty much as busy as last... but I'm going to make a better effort to get the workouts in... & to DEFINITELY watch the nutrition.

Its a new week!

Time to start fresh & new.... once again.

  1. I think we all have weeks that go a little off track. Hey even sometimes they are the things that shake up our bodies to do better when we are on track:) I wouldn't sweat it!
Although, I don't blame you about the Halloween candy. I watched my nephews and niece over the weekend and as I went through the grocery store filling the cart with anything that looked good, I just told myself it was for their sake not mine, LOL

  2. Like you, said starting fresh this week! It's okay to take a break sometimes. That's part of a healthy balance as well. ♥ Also, I think I'm just going to ban all Halloween candies from our home this year so I don't have to exercise willpower... because I don't have any. ;)

  3. Aww sorry to hear about your mom.
I had a crazy week like that last week. We just need to pick it up the following week!

I'm going to go look for your IG pick of this puppy you speak of!

  4. There seems to be an outbreak of back surgery this past week. My friend's dad, another friend who was assaulted in a robbery last year finally had back surgery to fix her pain, and your mom. I hope whatever issue she's having can be resolved soon. Medical stuff is the worst.

  5. It's OK for life to get in the way. That's just part of it. The fact you didn't let it derail you is what matters. You do what you can, when you can. I've been really good about ignoring the candy, but those frosted pumpkin cookies they have displayed at the grocery store have been calling to me. So far so good. Thanks for linking up with us today!

    1. I try to keep blinders on my eyes with all the delicious pumpkin treats out in the grocery

  6. Thankfully I have no little people around and I'm not working with kids exclusively anymore so no candy stash for me. I literally have to avoid even stepping foot in the candy aisle at the store!

  7. These things happen - it's OK! I've been able to avoid the candy aisle so far but I know it's not going to last. I'm weak. Saw the puppy photos - adorable!! And hopefully this week will be better for you! My training for the half coming up got derailed big time and I'm not running nearly as much as I should be. I figure my daily power walks at lunch should count for something -- even if I am coming back to the office a sweaty mess. :) Have a great week!

  9. It is time to start fresh! You are in a much better place to have weeks when life gets in the way. Remember it is a lifestyle change not a diet. You have to be able to live life and I think your doing that just great! Keep it up!!!

  10. Exactly--life has a way of happening like that, and sometimes you just can't do it all. My eating can be pretty bad when I'm busy. Like you, I'm excited to get back on the good-eating bandwagon!

  11. Sounds like a busy week! It's hard to avoid all the temptations between now and New Year's really. It's ok to splurge every once in a while. We're all human.
