All are welcome!!!

.... OK - so my title just totally reminded me of the movie Poltergist.

I blame ABC Family for playing it during Halloween & bringing back flashbacks of a childhood of the 80s when the movie really freaked me out - but now I see how corny the special effects were.

But that little lady's voice still does kinda chill me to the bone...

What am I talking about?

I got side tracked!

Today is my day & I'm talking about Poltergist?

I love so much where Kristy from Runaway Bridal Planner set up a Grow Your Blog bloghop... I love finding new blogs & getting to know people so I'm thrilled to be a part of it.

It's Going On Now

& today is my designated day where you get to meet me & learn a little about me....
If you've been here awhile, this is all probably old news to you - or you may find out something new about me... & for those who are visiting for the first time?  Yep, all are welcome!  (I couldn't resist doing it again... DANG YOU HALLOWEEN MOVIE-THON)

So far, I guess you can tell, I'm windy & could talk for days.
& kinda get side tracked & walk to a beat of my own drum

But just take it all as a lover of life....

On the serious side, this here blog is just basically my journey on health & fitness.

Fun facts about me in the fastest method possible....

*This is what I look like - not really Jennifer Aniston

* I swore I'd never run
* ... until I did my first race at 37 years old
* My first race was a half marathon
* I nearly died (wish I were joking)
* I crossed the finish line & swore I'd do it right the next year
* I beat my time by nearly an hour the next year
* I love running now!

That was quick & fun, right?

But I love all things fitness.

I just love the idea of taking care of myself the best way possible.  Which means so many things - exercise, nutrition, mentally in the game... it all counts.

Let's do another fun fact rundown....

* I gave up Diet Cokes after being a total addict
* I also gave up meat 5 years ago & could never at anything that breaths air again
* I have recently lost 30 lbs using 21 Day Fix plan
* I am just half way where I want to be in my weight loss
* I am a Beauty & the Beast freak & am convinced we are one in the same & I'll convince everyone that its true someday

* I also love ALL things Disney #nevergrowup
* I usually do posts labeled {DL} that just stands for "Daily Life" & just like to keep a health journal here
* I am a wife & have stepdaughters & 3 grandsons
* I hate medicine & will do anything as natural as I can
* I have so many injuries & issues with my body, its crazy - but I keep PRESSING ON!
* Yes, my dogs are like my children to me

* Most importantly - I love Jesus & am so thankful for His mercy & grace - its the most important thing to me in my life.
* The name of my blog is from my life verse in the Bible - Phil 3:13-14

... did I mention that I could talk for days?

I wont let this post go on for days - I promise...

But I just wanted to give you a quick look at who I am... just an ordinary gal... someone who has good days & bad days... your new blog buddy!

Be sure to stop back by & see where life has taken me for my Daily Life - I'll try not to be so awkward & windy

... & I'll be sure to join in on your life adventures.

  1. Wow, your first race was a half! That's incredible! Even more incredible that you shaved an hour off of your time a year later. I used to drink Coke's everyday, sometimes 2-3 in a day. It's amazing how much better I feel now without cokes. I couldn't give up meat though. Your dogs are so cute! I don't have any kids, so my pets get all my attention. I have a cat and a dog.

    1. I try not to think about it :) haha.... I seriously didnt train right for the 13.1 & my body was NOT prepared, so I pretty much kept passing out from mile 9-13 ... but was determined to finish... & THEN would allow myself to pass out :)

    1. OH gosh - I went in so unprepared. At mile 9, my genius self knowing nothing about how races & bodies work in races - I drank a Diet Coke... WHAT?... & got sick & kept tunneling out & nearly passing out. It was awful. My body rejected me. For sure!

  6. The character that freaked me out in Poltergeist was the old man dressed in black. He basically looked like a walking skeleton with huge teeth. {Shiver} I'm still worried he'll walk up to my front door. I love your blog, by the way. You've always kept it real and fun! And you are always working hard! It's good to learn a few new things through the hop.

  9. Hello from Grow Your Blog blog hop! That's funny. I am also easily side-tracked, I know exactly what you're talking about. It drives my family crazy when I am telling them a story. Hey , man, you've got to keep up! Your pups are adorable. No matter how tough your first half felt, you will never forget that one right? My first will always be my favorite, that feeling of accomplishment never seemed higher. Have a great week and happy blog hopping!

  10. Want to know one of the reason's I started following your blog originally (though I may have already told you this.) I just loved your personality, you don't hide who you are, and you can always tell no matter your post how real and fun you are. And as a person who is also long winded and could talk for days, if we ever met up at a race or something, I could honestly see non stop talking and oh the fun!
I get so easily side tracked too, I'm not even kidding about that. I wrote a post the other day, and as I was finishing I was like... what was my point... I went back and realized I started on one subject, hit a couple others in the middle and tacked on a 4th at the end, LOL
Is it weird that I have never seen Poltergeist, I know I am under a rock or something:)

    ReplyDelete
  11. LOL! can talk for hours? NO! :) I swore I would never run either, and I started after I passed 45! Now I wonder what took me so long! I started with 5K's and ran 3 half marathons this year! LOVE it! enjoy your day in the spotlight!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Wow! You swore you'd never run and yet your first race was a HALF MARATHON? That's impressive! As a newish runner, I am still working toward that first half so good on you for already tackling that distance! Everything else must seem like a cake walk! I too can talk for HOURS and tend to ramble a bit so I know where you're coming from. Thanks for the Poltergeist reference, now I won't sleep tonight! Haha! I HATE horror movies, doesn't matter how cheesy or bad the special effects are and it drives my husband crazy. Every Halloween he begs, literally, to watch a scary movie and I've yet to give in ... maybe one day I'll get over my fear!

    1. We're not real good scary movie people either - & I can tolerate the 80's scary movies because they're almost comical now with the special effects. Today's stuff? NOOOOOO WAYYYYY! :)

How long had you been running before you did your first race?
I can't do scary movies, they give me dreams for weeks! Even though I know they are fake.
I still remember how much I loved the Aristocrats and some of the old Disney movies...I was awed as kid.

  20. Hello from the Blog Hop! I admire your willingness to take the leap and try a half marathon so soon! It took me running almost 10 years before I jumped in. Yes, I was very late to the party! Your dogs are adorable. I've got two Bichons that are brothers. They are inseparable. : )

I so loved this RJ, your bubbly personality flew off the pages at me, hit me smack in the head and.... never mind :) I wouldn't expect anything less from you girly, I learned so new things too, I'm so glad we were in the Round 2 together! Did you ever taste a Diet Coke after being off them so long and that first swallow burned like whiskey? Did me, lol. Great post my friend!

    1. I havent had a Diet Coke because I was afraid it would be like an alcoholic drinking again - I would want it again - but I keep hearing its the worst thing in the world. I'm glad to know that.

  22. First of all, I saw your Papa John's 10 miler shirt -- I ran that race too! That was the first longest race I ever ran (did that make sense?) I used to live in Etown, KY and loved it there.

  24. Sounds like we have a lot in common. I too was a Diet Coke addict, and now I can't stand the taste of it. Probably a good thing since it took awhile to break my bad habit of drinking multiple cans of it every single day (including one for breakfast). I'm also a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast. Belle is my favorite of the Disney princesses.

Glad to be able to connect with you via the Blog Hop. :)

  30. That is pretty awesome that you came into running a little bit later in life and that you decided to tackle a half as your first race. I agree that we should enjoy life to the fullest and your attitude is refreshing - Disney has a fantastic way of wanting you to remain a kid at heart forever. I do like Beauty and the Beast but the Little Mermaid was my absolute fav ;)

  32. Your blogging style is adorable and I loved reading this post. I'm from the blog hop, but late to the game because my week was absolute chaos. I did my first race at 36, but it was NOT a half marathon! In fact, I didn't do my first half until 2 years later! So you're impressive. I also agree with Lisa (above) that Little Mermaid is my favourite, although I do rather like Beauty & the Beast. :-)
