Pinterest Says So: Vegan Banana Ice Cream

Here we go... I'm on a roll... 2 weeks in a row of checking out Pinterest & actually doing something...

Last night, I finished dinner & was craving something sweet.  While I've been battling the call that Nutella keeps screaming at me, I ended up going to Pinterest & finding this baby...

Vegan Banana Ice Cream

Who says you have to live without ice cream? This dessert is made with only two ingredients — frozen bananas and peanut butter — and is only 152 calories per serving. All you need is a blender. Photo: Jenny Sugar

& only 2 ingredients?
Yes please

I love the instructions literally say:

Who says you have to live without ice cream? This dessert is made with only two ingredients — frozen bananas and peanut butter — and is only 152 calories per serving. All you need is a blender.

Why can't every recipe be that simple?

I ended up pulling out a frozen banana & instead of adding peanut butter, I added PB2 Chocolate...

Yes... yes... yes...

It was delish.  Tasted like a Wendy's Frosty... seriously & honestly...

The only thing that I'm not sure about?  If my Nutribullet can hold up with that frozen banana... I wonder if there is a trick I should know.

Cut the bananas up smaller before freezing?
Add some sort of liquid?

I also read that once its blended, put back in the freezer to make it even more solid like ice cream...

yes... yes... yes...

All I can say - I'm stocking up on frozen bananas, PB2 chocolate & I'm looking forward to a cold summer treat!

  2. i broke a blender freezing the banana first. here's what i do, and i don't know why this isn't the more popular way.
banana + whatever ingredient. i like chocolate. put in container or whatever. put in freezer. pull out several hours later, eat deliciousness. blender survives.

  5. Hi Rebecca Jo! Love this blog! This is the first time I visited from my PC instead of my phone ( most of my blogging is done on the phone). I see that there are so many posts that I have missed! You always have such great content. I see I need to make myself a blog button so I can share it with you. How do you do that by the way?

So funny about that banana ice cream. I have been doing that for years before it became popular on Pinterest ( I'm a Nutrition teacher, remember). I sometimes add peanut butter and sometimes not. I use my Magic Bullet which is probably on its last leg though. I wonder if the Nutri-Bullet works better. Sometimes I even slice the bananas up and put them in the freezer, pull them out and just eat them like chips.

Wow, my comments get much longer now that I am actually typing on a PC...haha I am now going to add your blog to our blog's reading list ( now that I have figured it out).

    Have a great day!
